La Poterie du Mesnil De Bavent

The Mesnil de Bavent pottery is renowned for making rooftop ornaments called finials. On their historical site, five ceramists continue to make items by hand and to measure with methods unchanged in 182 years. Initially designed to protect a part of the structure of Norman buildings, finials have since taken on a more decorative nature and are crafted according to the customers’ tastes and wishes: Mondrian colour blocking, classic animal styles with a modern flair or plant-inspired creations both big and small. The buildings, expo hall and store are open all year except on Sundays. Visit the workshop and meet the artisans every Tuesday from July to August, or attend pottery workshops organized during school holidays from Easter to All Saints’ Day.
